The children's and youth initiative Plant-for-the-Planet has the goal of bringing back 1,000 billion trees and empowering children and young people for their future. In 2011, the United Nations Environment Programme, or UNEP, handed over the tradition-steeped Trillion Tree Campaign to Plant-for-the-Planet. Initiated by our Climate Justice Ambassador, Sagar Aryal, this was expanded into a digital platform and now everyone can donate trees with just a few clicks on plant-for-the-planet.org and track the planting progress via the specially developed TreeMapper app. Transparent, open source and free of charge.
In his presentation, Sagar Aryal, member of the foundation's board of directors, will present the inspiring success story of a digital platform for renaturation organizations. Today, over 220 projects are participating; interested parties can see the most important information at one glance. As a result, over 63 million trees have been mobilized since 2019.
The addition of the TreeMapper app has also strengthened the global climate protection movement. As a monitoring and reporting tool, it allows for a complex ecological analysis of the impact of projects, while being simple enough for any layperson to collect data using only their smartphone. All data can be collected offline and uploaded later. The app facilitates transparency in global reforestation and enables projects to produce high-quality reporting without much effort or cost.

Plant-for-the-Planet ist eine Kinder- und Jugendinitiative mit Mitgliedern in 75 Ländern. Sie mobilisieren für das Bäumepflanzen als Zeitjoker in der Klimakrise.
